Get Involved

Volunteer Opportunities

The San Antonio Food Bank offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to get involved in the fight against hunger.

Whether its preparing meals, distributing food to neighbors in need, or tending the farm at Mission San Juan; decide how you want to get involved today.

Warehouse Sorting & Packing

Join us in our warehouse to sort and organize donated food items, or pack bulk products into boxes for distribution.

For individuals and groups of up to 60 volunteers. All ages welcome.

SAFB Community Kitchen

Prepare meals and snacks for local schools and partner agencies at the San Antonio Food Bank’s May’s Culinary Center.

Individuals and groups of up to 20 volunteers. Youth volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

Haven For Hope

Prepare and serve meals for residents at Haven for Hope. This opportunity takes place onsite at the Haven for Hope.

For individuals and groups of up to 20 volunteers. Youth volunteers must be at least 15 years of age AND accompanied by an adult.

Food Distribution

Distribute food directly to the community through a drive thru distribution model that is held at a designated distribution site.

Youth Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age AND accompanied by an adult.

Curbside Pickup

Distribute food directly to the community at small-scale drive-through food distributions hosted at the San Antonio Food Bank.

For individuals and groups of up to 30 volunteers. Youth Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age AND accompanied by an adult.

Mission San Juan Farm

Join us at Mission San Juan to help tend the fields on our farm. Your assistance in planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops will contribute to providing fresh produce to those in need.

For individuals and groups of up to 50 volunteers.

Hunters For The Hungry

Process wild game at San Antonio Food Bank’s Casa Venado. Your generosity helps transform donated deer into nutritious meals for families facing hunger.

An Apple Corps Volunteer is a leadership volunteer role that commits giving time consistently and regularly at the San Antonio Food Bank. Join a dedicated group of volunteers that teach, lead and mentor other volunteers.

Apple Corps Volunteers must be 18 years or older, pass a prescreening process, and commit to a regular schedule for at least three months.
