“Sara always encouraged people to give back to others no matter what the cause.”

When Sara, a restaurant manager at the Menger Hotel, unexpectedly passed away, she left a legacy to family and friends that no matter who you are or what you do, give back. Last week, members of the Menger Hotel along with Sara’s friends and family volunteered at the San Antonio Food Bank in her memory. “Sara always encouraged people to give back to others no matter what the cause,” friend and colleague Sara Guerra says. “We are honored to be here today instilling those morals she strongly encouraged us to do.”

At a time when Sara’s family and friends were grieving, they were able to come together and remember the good times they had with Sara, while making a difference in the lives of others. “It is truly amazing coming here today to talk about a great person and her life and getting others involved,” Guerra says. “There are some colleagues who are here today who didn’t know Sara personally, but wanted to get involved for her cause.” As Guerra reminisces about her dear friend and co-worker, tears slowly roll down her face and her voice chokes up. “We hope she is happy we are all here together, her Menger family along with her personal friends and family doing this for her while making a difference in people’s lives.”

Thank you Menger Hotel and family and friends of Sara for spending time Fighting Hunger at the San Antonio Food Bank. Her memory will continue to live on in the lives you help in our community. If you would like to become a volunteer, register today at www.safoodbank.org/ways-to-help/give-time/
