The first time Jackie heard about the San Antonio Food Bank, she was looking for help in applying for SNAP – a federal program that provides nutrition benefits to supplement food budgets of individuals facing hunger. Jackie reached out to our team for help applying for assistance but never dreamed her call would lead to a new career!

As a single mother of two children, Jackie was facing low-paying job after low-paying job just trying to get by. While visiting the Food Bank to renew her SNAP benefits, our receptionist told Jackie about our Culinary Training Program. She enrolled the next month in the 15-week program where she learned basic kitchen and culinary skills and gained hands-on experience from Culinary Trainer Chef Greg.

“Graduating from the Food Bank culinary program has changed my life completely. I have goals and a new vision for my life.”

Jackie came to the San Antonio Food Bank for help with food for today. She left with resources and training that will enable her to have food for a lifetime.

“Every day I am thankful for the Food Bank. I am ecstatic that I can prepare food for my children and family and to place smiles on their faces daily.”

The San Antonio Food Bank is more than a warehouse of food; we lead transformational programs to help clients like Jackie to change their lives.
