Since its founding in 2017, the Culinary Health Education for Families (CHEF) organization has gone from a dream to transform the nutritional habits of children in San Antonio, to a nationally recognized program whose curriculum is taught in hundreds of schools in Bexar County. This week the non-profit organization announced its new structure and transition into the San Antonio Food Bank. Suzanne Feldmann, CEO of CHEF, recommended the new structure to the CHEF Board of Directors with the hope that the geographical reach of the Food Bank will grow CHEF exponentially. The CHEF Board of Directors unanimously approved Feldmann’s recommendation.

“It has been an honor to lead the CHEF organization and to see the impact it has had on the children of San Antonio. I am excited to watch how the program that has been designed will be expanded to more schools and communities through the San Antonio Food Bank” said Feldmann.

The Goldsbury Foundation, which has supported CHEF since its inception, will continue to support the program in its new home. “The Goldsbury Foundation is proud to have witnessed the enormous impact that Suzie and the team at CHEF have had on the children of San Antonio. We are thankful to the San Antonio Food Bank for their commitment to utilize and expand CHEF to educate our youth on the life-long importance of nutrition on their health and well-being” said Angela and Christopher “Kit” Goldsbury, Founders of The Goldsbury Foundation.

All CHEF programming and partnerships as planned for the 2023-2024 school year will continue under the new leadership of the San Antonio Food Bank. Eric Cooper, President and CEO of the Food Bank, and his team expect no interruption of programming this school year as it blends the CHEF staff and curriculum into its wider offering of CHEF as the signature nutrition program of the Food Bank to those across the region.

“We could not imagine a better ingredient to add to our recipe of programming for kids and families than the CHEF curriculum. We are so honored to build on the incredible program that Suzie built. We are excited to see the tens of thousands of additional kids and parents who will experience the magic of cooking healthy food at home together” said Eric Cooper, CEO of San Antonio Food Bank.
