Families Facing A Cost-Of-Loving Crisis
With inflation continuing to rise, we have more than a cost-of-living crisis, we have a cost-of-loving crisis. Too many parents in our community are having to sacrifice to make sure their loved ones have a meal, often forgoing a meal themselves. You have a chance this summer to help us support these families so that everyone can enjoy a meal together.
Caroline is a pillar of strength for her family, especially her 6 grandchildren. Her daughter is a single mother, working over 40 hours a week to support her family. With the high cost of childcare, Caroline watches her grandchildren so that her daughter’s paycheck can go towards paying other essential bills. “My daughter is a hard worker. I will do anything for my family. I consider it an honor,” Caroline explains.
The summer is a challenging time for Caroline and her daughter. Money is already tight and finding additional funds to feed their children three meals a day all summer long often means a sacrifice must be made to accommodate the additional expense. However, thanks to the Food Bank’s summer meals program, Caroline can receive no-cost meals, snacks, or groceries for her family.
The San Antonio Food Bank’s Summer Meals for Kids program bridges the gap for children when school cafeterias are closed for the summer. The Summer Meals program ensures that parents do not have to sacrifice their own meals so that their children can eat. You can help alleviate the fear and anxiety felt by parents and guardians this summer by donating today. No child or parent should ever go hungry.
Join the San Antonio Food Bank in building out a recipe to solve hunger and stem the cost-of-loving crisis in our community.
