The San Antonio Food Bank extends its heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation of $25,000 towards our Farmacy efforts. The Blue Impact grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, an award reflecting BCBSTX’s dedication to community-based organizations that prioritize the well-being of children and families.
The grant recognizes the crucial role of local organizations in fostering positive change, tackling underlying factors that influence health, including socio-economic challenges, and promoting economic opportunities.
Over the course of 43 years, the San Antonio Food Bank has continually grown its services to adapt to the evolving needs of its community. Through continuous process of improvement, collaboration, and diligent research, we remain dedicated to addressing the pressing issue of food insecurity. In a service area where 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 4 children grapple with food insecurity, the Food Bank stands resolute in meeting our most fundamental requirement – access to nourishment.
The support from BCBSTX will benefit 25 individuals facing hunger by providing not only healthy food, but also nutrition education and referrals, which will help the Food Bank identify additional needs related to poverty and food insecurity. This ensures participants receive comprehensive in-house services in hopes to relieve challenges.
BCBSTX has awarded more than $25 million in grants to community organizations statewide since 2011, touching the lives of millions of Texas children and families.
“Blue Impact grants help pave the way for healthier futures for children and families across Texas,” said Sheena Payne, director of BCBSTX community affairs. “We are proud to collaborate with this year’s recipients and look forward to witnessing the impact of their innovative programs on the communities we both serve.”
