Your contributions to the SECC make an impact in our community

Many people in our community are facing hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that’s why your contributions to the 2020 State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) are so important and will make a big impact on the lives of those in need.

“Contributing with Grateful Hearts” is the theme for this year’s UT Health San Antonio State Employee Charitable Campaign. Throughout the years the generous faculty and staff at UT Health San Antonio have contributed more than $8.5 million to our local community through the SECC.

What is the SECC?

It’s the state’s version of United Way. Your participation provides financial support to SECC nonprofit agencies to continue their outreach to people in our community who are struggling.

The services of SECC agencies are needed now more than ever due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of residents in our community have lost their jobs and are in need of basic necessities such as food, clothing, health care, child care and shelter.

Which agencies benefit?

The SECC supports many nonprofit agencies, including a few related to our own university, guided by missions to assist those in need.

Local charities that will benefit from your contributions include the San Antonio Food Bank, Autism Treatment Center, CASA of South Texas, San Antonio Pets Alive! and 100 Club of San Antonio, to name a few.

The campaign also supports the UT Health San Antonio Staff Emergency Fund, SA Cancer Council and Chromosome 18 Registry and Research Society.

You can choose the organization you would like to support. Learn more about the statewide and local charities here.

How do you donate?

Each year, thousands of state and higher education employees contribute through a payroll deduction or a one-time monetary gift. Your support is voluntary.

Due to the pandemic, there will be no departmental fundraisers on campus. Instead, there will be a virtual silent auction. The auction runs from September 7 through October 9.

This year, we have decided to forego our yearly challenge with The University of Texas at San Antonio and instead work together in our SECC efforts to raise a combined amount of $500,000.

The SECC runs from September 1 through October 9.
