The Vision of The Kitchen Table program is to be the catalyst and central agency in a multi organizational/ program collaborative, which will enable a true model for fighting hunger and poverty.

Fighting Hunger in Comal County
Through a generous award from Hunger Is, a joint charitable program of The Safeway Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), the San Antonio Food Bank has received an investment for the The Kitchen Table program. The award is especially unique for the area in that Safeway no longer maintains an active grocery presence in the region, but still found it important to fund such work in the Comal County region.
The Kitchen Table will use the funds to launch new programming throughout Comal County with a focus on bringing nutritious meals to children who struggle with hunger while they are out of school, including: dinner time, over the weekends, during holidays and over the course of summer break. Funding will allow The Kitchen Table staff to establish and coordinate meals sites, manage nutritious menu planning, as well as hire a qualified chef.
Not only will participating children receive nutritious meal assistance, they are also provided nutrition education. Their families will have access to multiple services as they access The Kitchen Table, including: Client Choice Pantry, nutrition education, benefit assistance, financial literacy, senior programs, family dining and more. Families interested in receiving services can call (210) 431-8525.
Clients, whether walk in or call in, will need to schedule a session with one of our Client Service Specialists.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
Client Choice Pantry allows clients to select food instead of receiving a pre-packaged or standard bag of groceries.
