SAN ANTONIO - It's a big day for the FOX SA family because we're kicking off our annual holiday "Box with Fox" food drive.

It's pretty simple - fill a box and feed a family. We even have special boxes with a list of items to donate printed on the side, which equals and entire holiday meal.

You can grab a box at the San Antonio Food Bank or a Little Caesars in town. Fill it up and return it to the food bank by Dec. 21.

Or you can make a donation and we'll be boxing up meals at the end of the campaign.

We caught up with San Antonio Food Bank president and CEO Eric Cooper and talked about the campaign.

He says its not just about food. These boxes strengthen families.

It's just a magical thing when you can give a family a box of food," he said. "The stress melts off. The fears of not being able to feed their kids. Food is love and I don't think there's a greater expression than, than that from San Antonio residents to another one that might be in a season of struggle.

After 22 years leading the food bank, Eric has seen the positive impact of giving, saying when we are thinking about others there is some healing that happens in our own lives.

"There's something magical about that selfless act of helping someone else," he said. "It makes you appreciate your life and maybe your trials seem a little smaller and so, in the spirits of Holiday Box with Fox we just encourage every resident to take it upon themselves to help a neighbor in need. Do something kind."

The food bank is currently serving 105,000 people in 29 counties. They rely on the community to help stock the shelves.
