H-E-B is fighting hunger by donating more than 124,000 boxes of cereal to food banks all over the state of Texas.

On Tuesday, the grocery store company delivered 24 pallets of cereal to the San Antonio Food Bank as part of 'Hunger Action Month.'

In all, about 18 food banks across Texas will get similar cereal donations. They will also split a cash donation of $672,000 from H-E-B,

The idea behind the cereal donation is to help families during the school year.

"It's very important for H-E-B that kids are growing up," says H-E-B representative Danny Flores. "They are able to go to school, learn and the way they need to do this is to have a good breakfast in the morning. Same goes for everyone, same goes for our seniors, same goes for our military."

Each dollar donated to the food bank essentially translates into seven meals for a person in need.
