Enjoy fine dining in the middle of Houston Street for a great cause

SAN ANTONIO — With the fall season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to plan a picnic with friends and family.

If that sounds like a great way to enjoy the start of cooler weather, then make plans to head out to "Houston Street Food" on Sunday, September 29, benefitting the Kids Cafe program at the San Antonio Food Bank.

The event will feature gourmet picnic baskets and seating right in the middle of Houston Street. Food will be provided by some of the Houston Street's finest restaurants, including Bohanan's Prime Steaks & Seafood, Dorrego's at the Valencia, Bella on Houston and the Palm.

"Rather than children getting crackers and powdered drink mix as a snack - or no snack at all - Kids Café meals and snacks are provided as alternatives,” said Eric Cooper, President & CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank. "The Houston Street Food event provides critical funds to enable us to provide this healthy and filling meal component to existing after school activities and youth programs in our community. We are very humbled to be part of such a unique event."
