Viva Bien! Live Well with Diabetes!

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services in 2014, 14.2% of the Bexar County adults had been diagnosed with diabetes (type 1 or type 2), which is higher than Texas (10.6%) and much higher than the national average (9.3%) as reported by the Center for Disease Control-Diabetes/ data/ index. It is projected by the CDC that the number of Americans with diabetes will double or triple by 2050 if current trends continue. Yet, persons at high-risk for diabetes can delay or avoid developing type-2 diabetes by losing weight through regular physical activity and a diet low in fat and calories as recommended by the National Institute of Health –Diabetes Prevention Program. The time to act is now whether you already have diabetes or want to prevent it!
